The Church of Blessed Sacrament was founded in 1904, the first Catholic Church in Hollywood, which at the time was mostly fields. In 1914, the church and school moved to its current site, and became a Jesuit parish. In 1923, the Jesuits took over responsibility for the school from the Sisters of Immaculate Heart. The Jesuits, founded on the teachings of St. Ignatius Loyola, are known for emphasizing excellence in classical education, analytic thinking and a focus on social justice. It is a philosophy that we embrace completely at Blessed Sacrament School as we strive to instill the hallmarks of a Jesuit education academic excellence and an understanding of social justice in each of our students.
